Today was.. interesting. I got to see Canton Tower, tried some amazing Chinese pork bun things, found out I have a mass on my liver, oh! and I almost got peed on on an escalator!
As much as I'd like to glaze over that whole mass on my liver thing that was actually how my day started. Kind of. We had our medical check today, it was basically a physical over 3 levels of very odd doctor's office ish stuff. There was a counter with a row of chairs that were doing blood draws, another room for an ekg, another room for height/weight/temp/etc., another room for x-ray (obviously) and it was crazy busy. The whole building closes down at noon for an hour lunch. We didn't get it all done before noon so we left for lunch and came back at one. At this point the only part we had left was the ultrasound, where my doctor didn't speak very much English. One phrase she did know was "don't worry." I have a mass/lump/what have you on my liver, it's kinda big, like 4.2 x 2.7cm. Big brother did some research, thinks that since I haven't had an discomfort/symptoms that it is probably benign. Or something messed up the ultrasound or a million other things. I have a doctor's appointment on Saturday. I'm figuring out quickly the company I work for is pretty great. I texted my boss first thing, she got the ball rolling, another boss set up a doctor's appointment and they are making sure my insurance gets set up so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket. ANYWAY, that's gonna all be nothing :)
Canton Tower, can't wait to see it lit up at night! |
No foodie pics today but we stopped by a vendor (they had a store front...not quite brave enough for the carts yet) and got what I know of in America as pork buns, I think it was still pork in them but the spices and oh...they were my favorite thing so far. Just awesome. Had some Singapore noodle dish at the hotel restaurant for lunch and found a noodle ish place for dinner. I just pointed at a random picture and it ended up being a lot like wonton soup. Also delicious.
Overall, we got to do some awesome exploring and had really good luck with food! Tomorrow is orientation!
