China is really hot! Even if it doesn't look like it. At 8 this morning it was already 78...which was currently hotter than Vegas, I might add. At 11 it's 80, but it's "only" forecasted to reach 86 today. I was sweating, but finally figured out how the thermostat works. (I struggle with American ones so...you can see the dilemma)
After hanging out at the San Francisco airport for a good 8 hours yesterday, I finally flew out. I slept most of the time, the lady next to me was nice enough to wake me for meals. They were pretty standard plane food but there was this jello dessert thing. It was somewhat clear jello and had what looked like flower seeds in it. I was going to take a picture but my neighbors had already given me strange enough looks.. Won't be a last I'm sure. This is a picture I took on the flight, currently over Alaska, this picture doesn't do the blues and purples I saw justice. It was stunning to say the least.
I flew into Guangzhou at about 10 or 11 China time. I called my parents when I reached the hotel (about midnight). It was about 9 am yesterday their time. I showered, got settled, and slept until about 4 am here, decided that was not going to work and managed to sleep until about 730 but that was about all my body would allow. After diddling around for 2 hours I was hungry enough to venture downstairs. I went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. It was a lot of new stuff but I settled on egg, chili cucumbers (might be a new favorite!...they were delicious!), watermelon, dragon fruit (that was a first... I LOVE IT!), star fruit, fried rice (yes, for breakfast, don't judge), this croissant pastry thing, another version of a Chinese pastry, and, of course, my beloved coffee <3 Yes, if you were wondering, this blog will be containing foodie pics. Finished breakfast and decided to venture out! As soon as I step outside, I see umbrella bags, yeah, that's right, they provide bags (different sizes even!) for your umbrella convenience. Pics to come of that. Anyways, went a-walking, got lost, found myself and made my way back to update you all on what has happened so far! I will be meeting up with a fellow trainer in about an hour, so I can set up my bank account, and get my phone stuff figured out. Tomorrow med check. Then onto Beijing for training! After that I will be back in Guangzhou, I will get to look for an apartment, according to the gal who picked me up last night, most trainers live in 1 of 3 buildings so looks like I'll probably be surrounded by some co-workers! Also, during conversation, I brought up dear old Fort Collins and my British new boss has heard of it, not for the glory that is CSU, but because of our world famous beer! Automatically, "oh, so you know how to drink!" I think I'll do just fine out here...
Until next time, y'all, lots of love!

Sidewalks are parking lots, too. This guy almost hit me on my way out. |
Okay Google and I are friends again. For now. All I wanted to say was I bet it is hot. Humid heat is way hotter than dry heat. Sheesh.
